Hey Skaters!

In the world of roller derby, I am known as Dirty Deborah Harry; skater, derby player, instructor, coach, shop owner, league leader, and skate mechanic.

In my pre-derby days, I was known as Debbie LaBriola, member of a quasi-famous roller skating family dating back three generations.

familyhistory

My family was and is, full of competitive skaters, rink owner/operators, wheel manufacturers, teachers, coaches, and rink rats.  I began my classical training at age four – learning from both my mother and father.

It was through their strict adherence to technical perfection that I learned to skate with strength and fluidity.

aboutme

After years of disciplined training combined with the fun of endless session skating and rollin’ at the beach, I decided to take on the challenge of roller derby.  Since 2006, I have been skating with the OC Roller Girls on both the flat and banked tracks.

Yes I know it is strange, I have been with the same league for 8+ years!

This is unheard of in our sport but, I have enjoyed every season behind the orange curtain.

dirty teaches

Some say I possess the unique ability to teach technical skating skills and apply them to derby play while immersing students in an atmosphere that is both humorous and inspirational.

I say this comes naturally from really respecting the athletic nature of skating but never forgetting the pure joy derived from the movement.

I am nothing but, grateful for the opportunity to teach skaters from all over the world but, consider the greatest reward being a witness to their growth, change, and development.

Skate on!

Dirty

Roller Skater of all disciplines.
